Melissa: Bee Divine

"For just as we see the bee (melissa) settling on all the flowers, and sipping the best from each, so also those who aspire to culture ought not to leave anything untasted, but should gather useful knowledge from every source" - Isocrates.

Melissa (the bee) is closely related to Eleusis. “Melisses” were the priestesses who catered and protected goddess Demeter. Melissa is the symbol which brings good luck and prosperity! Our jewellery is made of 925' silver, or 18k or 14k gold and gold-plated silver.

According to Porphyry (On the cave of the Nymphs in Odyssey), Demeter's priestesses were called "Melisses" (bees), as they were her caterers and protectresses, having the beehive as their symbol at the Eleusinian Mysteries. According to a Corinthian myth preserved by Servius, the Latin grammarian, "Melissa" was the name of one of Demeter's priestesses, who was initiated into the Mysteries by Demeter herself. What is more, the archpriest was called "Essin", meaning "The King - bee". "Melissa" was also another name for the Moon, protector of birth.
